Release 12: October 2021
- Unlimited table formatting: You can now format tables whichever way you like, including customizing the column widths.
- No more RTF format: We noticed hardly any users where generating RTF documents and decided to retire RTF format altogether. This will allow us to focus our energy on features that matter.
- Miscellaneous enhancements and bug fixes
Release 11: 26 June 2021
1. Full support for subitems: We're very happy to announce full support for subitems. You can now generate documents that contain the subitems from any row on your board.
2. Generate a list of your board's placeholders: Having trouble figuring out what placeholder to use in your template? Worry no more! With the click of a button you can generate a document that contains the full list of placeholders for your board. Just copy and paste them into your Word template.
3. Miscellaneous enhancements and bug fixes
Release 10: 24 April 2021
- DocuGen view names in integrations: No more typing; you can now pick the DocuGen view from a dropdown list:
- Real-time progress: You can have DocuGen display real-time progress when generating documents using a link column.
- Insert images into your document: You can insert images into your document using images saved in a Files column.

Board Document
without placeholderDocument
with placeholderWe shipped a total of <<column_firstrow:Numbers>>
We shipped a total of 200
Important notes:
a. If you already have DocuGen views where you specified custom units in the Settings, these units will be ignored in favor of the units you specified on the monday.com board.
b. To give you flexibility, using the column_firstrow placeholder will not include the unit (see example above); you can enter the unit within the template text. - Other enhancements and bug fixes.
Release 9: 19 February 2021
Important note: This is a major upgrade that may require re-installing DocuGen and re-authorizing integrations. If you face any issues, visit our Troubleshooting Guide or drop us a word at support@docugen.io.
- No more Google Docs! Going forward DocuGen will use Microsoft Word (.docx) documents as templates. You will not need to authorize access to your Google Drive anymore. If you are an existing DocuGen user with Google Doc templates in your Settings, we converted the Google Docs automatically for you.
- Support for formula columns: You can now include formula columns in your boards; no more clumsy workarounds! Note that DocuGen does not support nested formulas (formulas that use other formulas.)
- Attach to File column: You can now have DocuGen attach generated documents to a File column of your choice.
- Attach to conversation feed: You can now have DocuGen attach generated documents to conversation feeds.
- Receive generated documents by email: You have the option to receive generated documents as email attachments.
- Status automation is item-specific: Previously Status automations included data from the entire board and not the specific row where the Status was changed. This is now fixed: DocuGen will only pull information from the row where the Status was changed.
- Statistics tab: The stats were previously inaccurate; this is now fixed.
- Units: If you specify a unit for formula columns (say, $), the unit will appear on all rows. Previously it was limited to the sum at the bottom of the table.
- Welcome Zendesk: We replaced our in-app chat widget with Zendesk.
- Other minor bug fixes and performance enhancements.
Release 8: 27 November 2020
- Faster loading and more reliable document generation
- Better team collaboration using shared DocuGen Settings: Settings on any DocuGen view are now view-specific and not user-specific. All users with access to the board will be able to view and change the DocuGen Settings on the DocuGen views associated with the board. This will make it easier to collaborate since one user can set up DocuGen for use by other users. (Each DocuGen view will continue to have its own independent settings, even if there are multiple DocuGen views on the same board.)
