You can create documents based on your own templates using an existing Word document or starting from scratch.
-
In the DocuGen card, click on Create document recipe... from the Preview document or Generate document button:
-
The Create document recipe sidepanel will open up:
- Fill out a name for your recipe, specify the format of documents to be generated (PDF and/or Word), and whether you want the generated document to be sent by email to the Deal owner. All generated documents are saved by default to the Attachments card, that's why this option is checked and cannot be unchecked.
-
Click Select template; this will open up the template gallery:
- You can select one of the existing templates in the gallery, or click Upload a file (if you have a sample document), or click Start from a blank document.

- Edit the template as you see fit. To insert placeholders (merge fields) into your document, position your cursor where you would like to insert the placeholder and double-click on the selected placeholder from the right sidepanel.
- Once you're done, click Save to save the template.
- This takes you back to the Create document recipe panel. Click Save again.
That's it: your new template will be immediately available in the DocuGen deal card:
