DocuGen integrates with HubSpot deals, which lets users create documents in Word (docx) and PDF format:

Install DocuGen​

1. Go to the HubSpot Marketplace and search for DocuGen

2. Click on the Install button

3. If asked, select your HubSpot account and click Choose Account:

4. Review the requested scopes on this screen. DocuGen needs access to companies, contacts, deal line items, users, account settings, and other details to function properly.  

5. Click Customize app cards and jump to the next section

6. Click Connect app. 

Configure DocuGen

1. From the DocuGen app settings page, click on the Settings tab then on the App cards on the left

2. You can add the DocuGen card to HubSpot record pages and record previews. Let's start with the record pages: click Manage locations:

3. In the side panel, check the box next to DocuGen: 

4. Repeat this for all tabs: Contacts, Companies, Deals, etc. and click Save.
5. You should be back to the the DocuGen App cards page. Add the DocuGen card to HubSpot record previews by clicking Manage locations and repeating the same steps above. 

Use DocuGen

1. Go to any Deal (or any object where you added the DocuGen card).

2. The DocuGen card should appear in the right sidebar. You might need to scroll down to find it. Alternatively, you can edit the deal layout by clicking Customize at the top of the deal layout and dragging the DocuGen card to the top.

3. To preview a document, make sure the Preview mode toggle is on and click the Preview document button to see a list of document options:

4. Click on one of the document options. DocuGen will display a preview of the document:

5. Click Save to save the document to your Deal.

6. The new document will appear under the Documents list in the DocuGen card:

   ... and in the Deal's Attachments card:

7. If you untoggle the Preview mode, DocuGen will not display a preview of the document; instead, it will directly save the new document to the DocuGen and Attachments cards.

Create document recipes

You can create documents based on your own templates using an existing Word document or starting from scratch. 

1. In the DocuGen card, click on Create document recipe... from the Preview document or Generate document button:

2. The Create document recipe sidepanel will open up:

3. Fill out a name for your recipe, specify the format of documents to be generated (PDF and/or Word), and whether you want the generated document to be sent by email to the Deal owner. All generated documents are saved by default to the Attachments card, that's why this option is checked and cannot be unchecked. 

4. Click Select template; this will open up the template gallery:

5. You can select one of the existing templates in the gallery, or click Upload a file (if you have a sample document), or click Start from a blank document. 

6. Once you select an option, the Live editor will appear:

7. Edit the template as you see fit. To insert placeholders (merge fields) into your document, position your cursor where you would like to insert the placeholder and double-click on the selected placeholder from the right sidepanel. 
8. Once you're done, click Save to save the template.
9. This takes you back to the Create document recipe panel. Click Save again. 

That's it: your new template will be immediately available in the DocuGen deal card:

Manage document recipes

You can create, modify, and delete document recipes from the DocuGen settings page. 

1. Go to the Marketplace icon at the top of your HubSpot page and click on Connected Apps:

2. Under My Apps, click on DocuGen's listing:

3. Go to the Settings tab.
4. Under General > Document recipes, you will see a list of your recipes. 

5. You can filter the list of recipes by object using the dropdown at the top of the list:

6. You can edit (or delete) any recipe by clicking on the Edit (or Delete) button next to the recipe.
7. You can create a new recipe using the Create document recipe button.  

View your document consumption

1. Go to the Marketplace icon at the top of your HubSpot page and click on Connected Apps:

2. Under My Apps, click on DocuGen's listing:

3. Go to the Settings tab.

4. Under General > Usage, you will see your consumption statistics. 

Upgrade or manage your subscription

You can upgrade or modify your DocuGen subscription from the DocuGen settings page. 

1. Go to the Marketplace icon at the top of your HubSpot page and click on Connected Apps:

2. Under My Apps, click on DocuGen's listing:

3. Go to the Settings tab.

4. Under General > Subscription, you will see a list of your current DocuGen plan and upgrade options:

Uninstall DocuGen

To uninstall DocuGen from your HubSpot account, follow the instructions in this HubSpot Knowledge Base article.
