Column names (or titles, or labels) are fully customizable by the board owner. When using DocuGen placeholders that refer to your board columns, please make sure you avoid the unsupported characters listed below.

The most common symptom of an unsupported character is that DocuGen will generate the document but will fail to replace the placeholder with the actual column value.

Unsupported characters

1. Em dash — and en dash –
   These are long dashes which is sometimes might be confused with the short dash (-). If you have em or en dashes in your column title, please replace them with short dashes (the minus sign on your keyboard.)
2. Paragraph marks or line breaks
   We don't support column titles that break into two or more lines. If you have such a column, you should remove all paragraph mark (or line breaks.)
3. Emojis
   DocuGen supports most common emojis. However, some emojis are not supported. If you face issues with such columns, we recommend you remove the emojis.
